Hemkunt Sahib Pilgrimage Tour

Hemkunt Sahib Pilgrimage Tour

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Amritsar to Haridwar / Rishikesh

Your journey begins from Amritsar, the spiritual hub of Punjab. Early in the morning, start your drive towards Haridwar or Rishikesh, which serve as the gateway to Hemkund Sahib. The journey takes around 8–10 hours by road. For a comfortable trip, you can hire a private taxi or rent a tempo traveller, depending on your group size—both options are easily available in Amritsar. Tempo travellers are ideal for families or groups, while taxis suit smaller groups seeking more privacy. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and, if time permits, attend the evening Ganga Aarti.

  • Day 2: Haridwar/Rishikesh to Joshimath

After breakfast, proceed towards Joshimath. This is a long but scenic drive of about 9–10 hours, passing through beautiful confluences like Devprayag and Rudraprayag. It is highly recommended to continue your journey with a pre-booked taxi or tempo traveller, as it offers flexibility to stop at viewpoints and ensures a smoother ride in the hills. By evening, reach Joshimath, check into your hotel, and relax.

  • Day 3: Joshimath to Govindghat – Trek to Ghangaria

In the morning, drive 20 km to Govindghat using your taxi or tempo traveller. From Govindghat, begin the 13 km trek to Ghangaria. The trail is scenic and well-defined, and you also have the option to hire ponies or palkis if needed. After reaching Ghangaria, check into your lodge and rest for the night.

  • Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back

Wake up early and begin your trek to Hemkund Sahib, which is about 6 km uphill. The trek is steep but offers breathtaking views. At the top, visit the sacred gurudwara and the serene glacial lake. Spend time in prayer and soak in the peaceful surroundings before trekking back to Ghangaria by afternoon. Stay overnight at Ghangaria.

  • Day 5: Ghangaria to Govindghat – Drive to Rudraprayag / Joshimath

After breakfast, trek back down to Govindghat. Your taxi or tempo traveller will be waiting for you here. From Govindghat, drive towards Rudraprayag or Joshimath for an overnight stay. Choosing a private vehicle ensures comfort and convenience after the physically demanding trek.

  • Day 6: Rudraprayag / Joshimath to Haridwar / Rishikesh

Continue your return journey towards Haridwar or Rishikesh. The drive again takes around 8–10 hours. Using a taxi or tempo traveller makes the journey more relaxed, allowing you to take breaks and enjoy the scenic Himalayan routes.

  • Day 7: Haridwar / Rishikesh to Amritsar

On the final day, begin your drive back to Amritsar. You can use the same hired taxi or tempo traveller for a seamless return journey. By evening, you will reach Amritsar, concluding your spiritually enriching Hemkund Sahib Yatra with unforgettable memories.
